The Incredible Hulk

The Incredible Hulk, which stars Edward Norton, is a comic book adaptation of one of Marvel’s most beloved heroes. It deals with Bruce Banner(Ed Norton) struggling with his angry side known as The Hulk after a gamma radiation freak accident. Now that may be the main obvious factor it is not the only factor as The Incredible Hulk comic and movie are studies into the personal battle with your own demons. The movie is directed by Louis Leterrier and written by Zak Penn and secretly Edward Norton.

With most first comic book movies you should always explain the origins of the main character and since we already got a very bland first version of Hulk they gave us a quick recap that was slightly different and better than the whole first movie infact. This was a nice touch and gave the movie the whole alotted time to build off of that story.

I’ve heard that people have been disliking the slow pace of the movie at the beginning but what you have to understand this is Bruce battling himself and the slow pace of the movie at the start is exactly the right choice. It brings a sense of completion at the end of the film as Bruce is battling himself the whole entire movie and at the end he realizes what he already didn’t want to admit.

Now, Edward Norton puts on a fine performance as usual but I have to give a shout out to Tim Roth who as Emil Blonsky/The Abomination did a fantastic job. Blonsky was brought in to take down Banner but as he witnessed the Hulk he wanted nothing more to take him down. As he was given gamma radiation injections by General Ross(William Hurt) it seemed to feed Blonsky’s needs like it would someone addicted to drugs. It’s really quite spectacular to see how addiction is always a major problem.

Altogether this movie is another great addition to the Marvel franchise. What I like is that they are finally making the movies be aware of each other. Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk have blended into each other and frankly that’s what comic book movies should do. The ramifications of one movie should affect the others as it is the same universe. Comic book movies of the same brand should all be considered loose sequels in my opinions. That’s all I have.

Final Verdict: 3.8/5
